adidas Brings Singapore’s Vanda Bloom to Its Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Collection

Singapore does not do Formula 1 quietly. For one weekend, ordinary roads become a floodlit circuit, office towers form the backdrop and the sound of engines rolls through Marina Bay after sunset. A collection made for this city could easily reach for neon skylines, chequered flags or the Merlion. For its Singapore-themed Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team Vanda Bloom pack, adidas has taken a more thoughtful route, drawing on the colour and character of Singapore’s national flower.

The Vanda Miss Joaquim is more than a convenient decorative motif. Officially known today as Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim, it was selected as Singapore’s national flower in 1981 for its vibrant colour, resilience, hardiness and ability to flower throughout the year. Those qualities, documented by Singapore’s National Parks Board, translate naturally into the language of Formula 1, where endurance, adaptation and performance under pressure matter as much as outright speed.

That connection comes through most strongly in the apparel. Dark purple runs across the Vanda Bloom driver jerseys, replacing predictable racing colours with something richer and more closely tied to the orchid inspiration. The pack includes driver jerseys for men and women, a men’s team jersey and a women’s cropped driver jersey. Together, the four silhouettes make this feel like a proper wardrobe rather than a single commemorative item with matching branding.

The traditional jerseys carry the visual authority expected from modern teamwear, placing Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS and adidas motorsport identity within pieces designed to stand out beyond the circuit. Their dark-purple palette works easily with black trousers, faded denim or technical track pants, allowing them to move between race-day fanwear and everyday street styling. The women’s cropped jersey pushes the idea further. Its altered proportion makes the motorsport graphic language feel closer to contemporary fashion, particularly when paired with relaxed bottoms or layered over a fitted base.

This wider choice matters because Formula 1 style has moved beyond the familiar oversized sponsor shirt. Team apparel now shares space with football jerseys, workwear jackets and technical outerwear in everyday wardrobes. People may follow every lap, appreciate the engineering or simply respond to the strong graphics and uniforms surrounding the sport. The Vanda Bloom apparel accommodates all three without losing its specific connection to Singapore.

A matching dark-purple driver cap completes the clothing story. It is the simplest item in the pack, but also one of the easiest to wear after the Grand Prix has left town. Styled with one of the jerseys, it creates a full team look; worn alone, it gives a quieter motorsport reference. That flexibility helps the collection avoid feeling like merchandise reserved for a single October weekend.

There is also an outstanding sneaker in the pack: the adidas Adizero Evo SL M Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS in Blue Tint, Semi Ruby and Dark Purple. Here, the Vanda palette moves onto a lightweight performance silhouette influenced by adidas’ faster Adizero family. The streamlined shape already carries an automotive quality, while the floral colour story softens the aggressively technical profile. It supports the apparel rather than overwhelming it, giving the complete collection a head-to-toe option without turning the launch into another sneaker-only collaboration.

The timing feels especially appropriate. The 2026 Singapore Grand Prix, taking place from 9 to 11 October, will include a Sprint and bring even more competitive action to the Marina Bay Street Circuit. By race week, Formula 1 will not remain behind the barriers. It will spread into malls, restaurants, parties and wardrobes throughout the city.

The best destination collections continue to make sense after the event signage comes down. Vanda Bloom succeeds because it does not simply print Singapore landmarks across familiar merchandise. It uses a national symbol to build an adaptable apparel range, then carries the idea into a cap and a single performance-led sneaker. Nature meets engineering, floral colour meets team graphics and Singapore identity appears without needing to shout.
