It's been a while coming. We've had stores in Bugis, Funan, and Suntec for some time now, all central, all accessible if you're already in the city. But if you live east, the trip was always a small commitment. MRT ride in, browse, MRT ride back. Not a huge deal, but also not nothing, especially when you're just trying to check what's new or pick up a pair without turning it into a half-day.
Tampines changes that. We're opening our latest SneakSurf store there at the end of March, and if we're being honest, it's somewhere we should have been sooner.
Why Tampines
The east has always had its own energy. The sneaker culture here isn't imported from Orchard Road, it grew up organically, in the towns, the schools, the basketball courts. Tampines in particular has a tight community of people who follow releases closely, who care about what they wear, and who have been making the commute into town simply because there wasn't a local option worth going to.
That's what this store is about. Not expansion for its own sake, but showing up somewhere that's been underserved and where the interest has always been there. Tampines is one of Singapore's most established residential hubs, a high-footfall, well-connected town with a younger demographic that's grown up with streetwear as part of everyday life. It felt like the right fit, and the timing felt right too.
What's In Store
The Tampines outlet carries the full SneakSurf lineup. That means Adidas, ASICS, Salomon, On Running, ADLV, SATUR, Porter International, BONELESS and the rest of the brands we carry across our other stores, all authentic, no exceptions. If you've visited any of our other stores, you'll feel right at home. If this is your first time, end of March is a good place to start.
The team running the floor will be the same kind of people you'd find at our other locations, staff who are genuinely into the culture, who know the product beyond the spec sheet, and who won't make you feel like you're being upsold on something you didn't ask for. That part matters to us.
A Store for the Neighbourhood
There's a tendency in retail to cluster where the crowds already are, Orchard, Marina Bay, the usual suspects. We get it; the logic is straightforward. But some of the most loyal sneaker communities in Singapore don't live there. They live all over Singapore. And for a long time, the stores didn't follow.
We're not claiming to fix that singlehandedly. But we do think a good store should be where its customers are, not the other way around. Tampines felt like the honest choice, a neighborhood with genuine character, real foot traffic, and a community that's been waiting for something worth walking into.
We're looking forward to being part of it.
